Our Organic Program includes all-natural fertilizers that stimulate root and shoot growth as well as turf greening and thickening. There are no all-natural weed control products to date, but if you would like Ultralawn to remove your weeds, we will gladly spot spray upon request. Organic Lawn Care Organic is defined as any compound containing carbon and, thus, includes both natural as well as synthetic sources. Rising concern for the environment has led to an increase in the organic approach to lawn care. In lawn care, organic programs are based on proper maintenance of turf in an effort to minimize the need for major input from us. Nutrients: We use a product called Nature Safe®, which the fertilizer is derived from natural sources. Nature Safe contains no manure or sewage sludge’s. The natural ingredients found in Nature Safe are animal proteins such as feather, bone, meat, fish, poultry and blood meals. The fertilizer contains essential natural amino acids, chelated secondary elements, vitamins and enzymes. The all-natural ingredients in Nature Safe supply the food energy that increases the number of microbes found in the soil as well as provide the basic nutrients needed for healthy plant growth. Organic fertilizers are actually feeding the soil, not just the plant. The fertilizer provides nutrients to the soil, which in turn feeds the roots of the plant, thus producing a healthier lawn or garden. Nature Safe also contains humus and organic matter that hold nutrients, as well as water, making them available to the plant as needed. This results in fewer applications of fertilizer and can reduce the need to water, especially during the high stress summer months. Cultural Management: Maintenance of a vigorous lawn depends upon cultural practices to increase the diversity and health of the soil. A healthy, well-rooted turf can compete with many species of weeds. Mowing high is another organic strategy aimed at shading out particularly troublesome annual weeds as crabgrass, which require light to germinate. In addition, organic lawn care endorses the need for education aimed at acceptance of a certain level of weeds. How are weeds and insects controlled? Nature Safe products do not contain chemicals used to kill weeds or insects. Instead, weeds are naturally controlled as the turf thickens. Our program is built on the concept of promoting healthy plant growth. If weeds and insects are a concern, we offer a "spot" treatment program, in which the weed or surface insect control is applied directly to the affected area only.
